I don't know why do you hate CentOS. I just installed the whole tracker, configured it and made the server up in just 20 hrs. I used CentOS 6.4 on a vps. And it runs fine. I do not know much about servers so cannot tell debian is better or not but I am pretty satisfied with CentOS.
*And the main thing is before this 20 hrs I never used CentOS, though I am a Fedora user and Fedora and CentOS are pretty similar.
