if the .js isn't loaded in the header and only on specific pages will be good, but if its in the header, which i suppose it is, then everytime page loads will have another request to make.

If its a new style why are you still using refresh ?, you could keep the connection open XD

@AEON - man the entire website is refreshing and that's not a good thing

You have a valid point, as the "Shoutbox" is a facebook style so it will be refreshing all open pages that has the shoutbox. which would make users loose :mad:

@Chez - Only shoutbox.php refreshes it every 30 seconds, so it does not affect the other pages.
No chat problem with the rest of the pages

Look deeper and check the console. Every 30 sec the website is sending a request and the initiator is your shoutbox file. But anyway that's not my problem. :coffee:

LOOOOOOL, not sure if you have ever looked at the source codes, because well no one will ever be using your code due to the fact its refreshing the entire site or the pages that are opening every 30seconds which will make a persons data goto shit as well as there patients. @Chez is correct its not our business in any case :drink::friend::relax::lol:

There is no problem with other pages when updating chat
The chat file is separate from the source code
