TBDev.net Down
At this moment TBDev forum site is down.
CF has be missing for almost 9 months now. The domain has be paid for - by unkown!! Server has not been paid - and therefore is not running the forums. So my question - is anyone running a new site or temp site for TBDev ? |
i have no idea what is happening there
|
There is a new site coming for TBDev so hang tight
|
I would be interested to know what's going on. The site needs mirroring so the mods, themes, etc aren't lost forever.

Is CF still Admin'ing it? Has control been given to someone else? Or is someone else just putting up a replacement? Further info would be appreciated  |

When will the site be back online?
|
It won't be back...
|
Why?
|
It's all well and good that some have setup forums for TBDev but what they ALL lack is the '08 Section of Mods and this is what people want access to!
|
Tbdev is gone and wont return, i would confidentially say all the work posted is lost unless he opens it again - Cf will have back ups no doubt but obvious fact is he ain't interested at this present time. All the key coders and staff left or were banned long before that place shut down due to split allegiances and internal fights directly attributed to differences in opinions which happens in every walk of life. I took all the 08 mods that counted and were decent, made them Xhtml valid, secured them and removed all php errors long before any of that went down and spent over a year doing so. U-232 is the only place your going to get any access to TBdev mods, there are on my forum, i never done no half arsed job either its been done properly seeing i was Ex Tbdev staff. I'm still the only one churning out new shit and mods continually on my forum and don't see the same anywhere else. U-232 wont ever suffer the same fate Tbdev has, im in control because i host it all on my server, i dont rely on public to run my setup i rely on myself. U-232 is Tbdev 09 final at its core, its no different from any variant either if you are clever enough, i can put U-232 V3 mods into any Tbdev variant so think about that. If anyone wants to know key differences ask, its minor in timestamps in the front end and db, 09 used a php wrapper on html $HTMLOUT - thats simple to swap back to echo, honestly its no hard at all.
The only ever present problem is people sitting on dinosaur source codes, thats the real problem, if you don't keep up to date you run the risk of what we all just seen, isolation because the forum closes and you stood by and never done anything about it, It is easy to take Tbsource or any variant and update to 09/10 or u-232 or what ever if your prepared to use your head. If you take anything from my post - It should be what I'm getting at, the past is the past, let it rest and allow the new projects to take its place, history and heritage will never be forgotten. |
well said.
and by the way, i do agree that U-232 is based on 09... ive looked over the codes, and all is kinda the same :P... anyways... to come to the point of this post, one have allready posted my domain: www.speed-scene.com me and 1 other guy for momment being ''and a friend of he's :P...'' is coding a whole new source based on cakePHP.... and a new name for it also: (The bLACKbITT Foundation) Hoping all that misses tbdev will take a look if you wish :). more questions can be asked here or on my board :)... and dont worry... the board has been paid for 2 years ahead... and the same faith wont happend here as on tbdev ;)... |
It's sad that the TBDev project community is gone but I guess that was to be expected as the main coders that shared a lot of their experience and gave a lot of support to the users were gone or forced in to leaving. I am glad that someone like Bigjoos took the courage and created another community with a fresh start.
Unfortunately the time doesn't give me the luxury anymore to have phun coding for TBDev based sources and thus be an active member of such communities but I take my hat off for those who can. :) |
hehe, true.
but one question, why in the world are you posting this code?... what is it for if i may ask? :P... |

How can we get the new source that you have build the 232 one. Do you have a forum? I think you used to have btdev.net but its now gone i cant access. I would love to use the new source code. Thanks in advance! |
Hi, i'm thinking to continue the tbdev project, new versions bug fixes etc and maybe a rewriting for a better/easier mod integration but for now i'm just thinking about it.. and also CF must agree with this.

Does coldfusion has any contact info? Or he's offline for good?
|
Many have said that they'd bring a TBDev site back but nothing ever comes of it. It would be nice if someone did though!
But if anyone ever did they would need to have at the very least have taken copies of posts along with any attachments associated with them, one of the main items that previous people had asked for was the '08 Mods Section. Even if you could somehow contact CF I'd be surprised if you ever received a reply but personally I would not even bother trying to get permission that he'd never give as how I see it and maybe many others also, he dropped many sites in the crap when the site suddenly went offline without any warning.

I don't want to get involved in the thread, but after reading the thread am I missing something..

The main problem is with the source code, it has to be rewritten maybe oop style for easier developing and customizations like mods styles etc so instead of continue with the current source code maybe we can start a new project based on tbdev.
|
Well... I'm bored. And everyone seems to need some sort of tbdev site going so I'm gonna do one.
But not just tbdev I ain't gonna be racist. Will see what mods and shit I can find in my infinite wisdom and post it up. And will set the forum out a bit better when I come back online Yes I have literally just chucked it up there for now Torcoding.com |
Why bother? bvlist has a lot of it covered.. if really worried, hit me a pm, we'll fix something out....
|
Can never have enough info.
|
Then help them out here.. fill there site with helpful things...
|
Who says I don't :p
But on the fact that everyone in this post is like we miss tbdev yet they have bvlist right here, they obviously miss the extra info they get. Otherwise they wouldn't care. |
nah they really gotta notice there is more newer codes out there.... tbdev is very old and got a lot of things missing....
|
I know this, but it's all each to their own on what they choose to use, wether it be a source that hasn't been updated since 2006 or one that is brand new.
Personally I Reccomended btmanager, but I also think that a lot of other source codes shouldn't die in the ass and be forgotten about. Like the first source I ever used (you will never see it on an active site) yabtuc. Sources like that shouldn't just go away. If people want to keep it alive they can. And I also am building a repository of all the tracker sources. A lot of which have just disappeared, and most of them contain some really useful codes (I can vouch, as I blended a heap of sources together to build my custom script) |
Instead of members creating another site why not do as GameMaster says and just utilize what we already have in place here and add the Mods/Themes here?
I fail to see the point in creating another forum that is basically just a copy of what we have here ie, contains various source codes etc... Quote:
Let's make use of what we already have in place here instead of members creating multiple forums. |
if CF still has the db we could buy it then import all the sections. i'm willing to buy it :)

so what is so damn hard to code on the code itself?
i think you wanna make an option in admin panel to code the site with a push of a button.. now where's the fun in that? |
Dude you didn;t get the point, you will download the source code, spend days to customize modify files etc and then the project will release a bounch of updates, what you will do since the update will break your code.. be up to date and spend again days of modding or do not update?
You will have a lot of fun in developing and maintaining mods so don't panic :) |
and that way u will never learn to code if the update is done by pushing a button :)
how do ya expect people to ever learn ? |
I miss the point where software users must be experienced in programing, opening a tracker community does not require any coding skills, my mother wants to create a forum about i don;t know flowers for example - what i will say to her dear mama you can;t do this since your;re not a programer? A tracker purpose is not to learn people how to code.
|
hire a progammer? hmm yep, that would do the trick ;)
|
Man you still don't get it, i'm trying to do something than can be used by everyone with or without any coding skills, and same thing for mods.. Are you a programmer? Ok then write some mods. You don't have any programing skills? Ok then use mods provided by others. Simply as that.
