To be honest I am not sure. I have only run it on dedicated servers. I can tell you you can get away with lower ram. I have never seen UNIT3D use above 2.5GB MAX on a site with 9,654 members and like 27295 peers. But having a good cpu with cores and threads is the big deal. The lowest I have gone testing wise is 4 core 4 thread 2.6Ghz. Otherwise I'm not sure. Could possibly go lower Im sure if not a lot of peers. Plus in version 2.0 release we will have a golang based announce and the default PHP one we built for UNIT3D. So that will use a lot less resources as well.
