Hi, people.

I'm in too. I'm a long time uploader on various sites, never drifted anything but a seedbox 100/100, but found out I'd really like to make a community/torrentsite specifically for the people I'm addressing.

So I got a programmer on board, got a domain and a server waiting for input, when suddenly my programmer went missing. Permanently by the looks of it..

I talked to Sharky on TorrentFreak, who pointed me to this site, and I'm here, feeling like a complete ass, and wonder where I can get some help, cuz I need it desperately. I don't even know what would suit the site best as to templates, but on the bright side I got screwed by TemplateXam before coming here. :shock:
Needless to say I FTPdeleted every trace of the guy's "work" from the server, and now it's just a dead end made in FrontPage.

So introduce myself? Well.. I'm well on the way already perhaps..

I'm a firm believer in so called trackerless torrents, depending on only DHT and PEX, because it works, and because it takes the strain off the domain to a certain degree. I just don't know how to set what up..
But I can pay..:hi: To a degree...for help...if someone...or otherwise..?
Hows that for an introduction? Poor? OK? At least I'm honest and you can't say I brag.. LOL.

Talk about getting into a pickle :shock:
You Need to think about a couple things
1.what do you want for accessories
2.what type of taker system you want torrents eD2K/Magnet Links Internal/external torrents
3. are you going to work off a stats system
and last but not least what type of layout are you looking for.

There are a few good stable sources here and a few not so good
You well want to know atleast the basics of php and html .

What type of time frame are you looking to become active
How stable is your server

just a few questions for you to ponder

1. Accessories? You mean..? Sorry I'm a Nooooooobie..
2. Internal magnet links looks like the future and what is best. Besides; I'll host all torrents on the seedbox. This is a site where I foresee that I'll need to be pretty strict as to what's suitable for the community, so I must check every one personally until I get more people in the forums, which really are the nerve central of the site.
3. No. No stats, no pressure. Hit and run is OK, but of course seeders are welcome.. LOL..
Layout.. I missed that one.. I'm looking for a sober, serious but organic look, earthy colors, a place to relax, hang out, feel safe. Strict forum rules and so on. Homey look, a little leather'ish maybe. I've got a header for the front as jpg, that's all, really. And some gifs and deco + text and stuff; Forum Rules General Rules, welcome and FAQ and stuff like that. Other than that, I'm open to anything that can fill the needs of the members; PMs, Forums, avatars,.. and a section for the DHT/PEX torrents..

As to the basics, I don't even know how to make a database in mysql and fill it with the site. Problem.. I'm renting LinuxA from b4uindia.com. They're pretty reliable, and the server is in USA.

Time frame to become active..? ASAP, really, since I've been waiting for a while to get this thing running.. If the site was up, constructed on the principles above and with captcha and signup frontpage, but without being a "private site" per se, just to keep the snoops out, I could use the database in mysql to mod the text and pix and so on, I guess. Or plainly CuteFTP? I don't know. I just gotta learn what I gotta learn, but don't know where to start.. A site with signup, Forums, internal magnetlinks, site rules, Forum rules, contact staff.. You know.. I repeat myself. I'll stop now.

Don't know if this was any help, but thank you for asking. I just didn't know what to answer as to accessories.. :nosepick:

I need a well functioning forum and irc, (preferably internal, so people without irc-software installed can use a client on site Like thebox.bz has it, if possible, BUT NOT NECESSARILY.) [and of course all the PM stuff and profile-page and so on..]

Shoutbox is fun, and it brings attention to particular issues and people, so yes, I'd like that inside there, after the signup and login and captcha first, of course. I've seen some shoutboxes on the index-page, visible to non-members, and that was stupid.

IMDB? No.
