tracker port !
hi,
I think TS is working on port 80 , but can we change that !! my reason is that the people from U.A.E. can't download from tracker with speed above 7 - 9 kb and that's not correct cause i tested it from egypt , france , usa and all of them is working correctly with 150 - 600 kb with no problem for the same .torrent file so i think U.A.E. (United Arab Emirates) communication company is blocking or throuteling p2p and they idintify it by port !! any ideas !

That's probably up the provider. Many of them simply block or restrict it a lot!
There is no much help with changing ports. It's p2p traffic that is blocked! They have programs which can read that!

Hmm, that's something I hear for the first time.
As Fynon said, we can't give adequate help for everything here because that code is basically not suppose to be on this site. Only person here that could answer that best would be mrdecoder!

as a normal http site it usually runs on port 80 i.e. torrents have nothing to do with such ports as you connect different users to each other using different ports (classic port 6881 which is banned on ts so users should use something else)
I'm not sure what are the restrictions in UAE but if everybody enable Encryption and change port numbers often it will make hard for ISP to find if they're using bittorrent tech BUT!!!! if your connection is already low like 128kbit then there will be no performance notice if you're running your site in https mode instead, the default port is 443 which is automatically translated in bitclients too so you don't have include it in setup can you set different port number other than usual? in many bittrackers yes like YSE and FTS but i haven't tried it on TS how can you try? well when you setup your TS software include a port number in the end like Coming Soon... |

if you enable https it will only enable encryption between Server and client (i.e. utorrent, auzrues,..etc) it will not enable any encryption between peers (from utorrent to another utorrent)
i.e. site encryption has nothing to do with utorrent setup at all when you enable the encryption on utorrent it translates to the encryption with other peers NOTE: Any type of encryption does require more CPU i.e. if you enable https on server it will affect both server and client also if you enable encryption on utorrent it will affect both you and the other peer however i wouldn't mind that if you have any system that has AMD 1200, P4 1.5GHz and up so I always enable my Vuze to accept encryption and on some files i download :) for Canadian users they should only allow encrypted connection as some of their ISP shape their traffic as soon it's recognized as bittorrent transfer here is Azureus wiki page for Bad ISPs I'm not sure when it has been updated but take a look at it :) Bad ISPs - AzureusWiki |
