You can blame it on the server if you like. But its really the latest version of mysql 5.5 doing it.. I have seen it alot on alot of sites even my own..
If you have an backup copy of the db then do the following if debian or ubuntu.
apt-get purge mysql*
then read and follow what here to install mariadb

unless you dont have access rofl then maybe its time to move to an none web hosted place :P
