how to configure the mail sending ?

(Sorry about my spelling and my syntax , I use google trad(I'm french))

So as the title says I can not configure a mail sending .
Somebody could be super friendly and explain step by step how I should do ?

Yet I have tried to insert the SMTP server , usurname , pass etc. But no message sent. (I tried with gmail)

when I try to recover a password on the log page , I have this message:
if I test again using port 465 I have this message
I must also tell you that xBTiT is installed on a Synology NAS , and I use phpMyAdmin.
