Helping me around?

Hey guys, I'm OSASNGRT and I have been in the torrent world for some years now and also been part of the staff team and stuff like that.
But lately i have been planning to run my own torrent site with some other staff members, a torrent site based on mobile phones.

And tadaha, I found this awesome forum and I was wondering if anyone of you are willing to help me out with this, anything you can offer will be appropriated. I was planning to use ucoz to start and maybe later i can move the site, but can anyone here please help me out with the installing of phpmybittorrent? Please guys, I really need this stuff. And like i said before, if anyone of you is willing to join this project, please feel free to help me out.

I'm really new at all of this and I'm also using a free hosting Ucoz, and I dont know how to install it on this Ucoz and I dont even know if it will support Phpmybittorrent . So I dont really know where to start in this case and if you guys have any other free host thats a lot better then Ucoz, let me know.

I do know that i should upload the html folder that came from phpbmybittorrent, but this ucoz is a little confusing.

phpMyBitTorent v2.0b4
Installation Instructions

Stage #1

After extracting the archive, upload the contents of the html folder to your root web directory. The name of this folder varies depending on your hosting provider, but in many cases it’s named “httpdocs”.

After the files are uploaded you will need to use your control panel’s file manager, or some other method, such as chmod, to set file permissions. Make sure you change the following files and directories.

Note: some hosting providers give problems when setting files to 777 (for instance if mod_security is installed). If you find that this is the case, try setting the following permissions to 755 instead.

avatars/user = 777
cache = 777
imdb-images = 777
include/configdata.php = 777
UserFiles = 777
phpBB3/config.php = 777
phpBB3/cache = 777
phpBB3/files = 777
phpBB3/images/avatars/upload = 777
phpBB3/store = 777
torrent = 777 (assuming this is the directory you are using for torrents)

Stage #2

Open your web browser and go to http://yoursite.com/setup/index.php. Once there follow the prompts. Be sure to have your database information handy (database name, username, password, etc..). Most of the default tracker settings should be sufficient, however one that causes some headaches, and that you may want to disable, is the captcha setting. After you get to the Installation Completed screen please delete the setup folder in your root web directory. YOU ARE NOT FINISHED, please proceed to the stage below.

Stage #3

Point your browser to http://yoursite.com/phpBB3/install/index.php. Click the “install” tab and follow the directions. Pay in mind that you must use the same database in order to use the integration of phpBB3. Also your administrator username, password, and email need to match your corresponding phpMyBitTorrent admin information.

When you get to the Congratulations screen, click the login button. Under Server Configurations select Cookie settings. Write down, or select and copy, the Cookie name value. You will need this to integrate with phpMyBitTorrent.

Stage #4

Point your browser to http://yoursite.com/admin.php and login with your admin credentials. Select the Administration section from the menu. Select the Forum Integrating item.

The Forum Data Base Prefix is without the underscore and by default shouldn’t need to be changed. Under the Cookie Name section enter in the cookie name you previously copied down in Stage 3. Enter your domain name under the appropriate field without using “http://”. Forum Cookie path has to match your forum, most of the time “/” works just fine. The Base Folder Your Forum Is in, as long as you didn’t change the default settings, you can leave this alone. Then Select the box to turn on forum share. Do not select the box to Turn on Auto Posting until you have setup an addition forum for it. Click save.

Note: Turning on sharing if you have not set up your forum yet will not work and will cause a fatale error in your program.

Congratulations, your phpMyBitTorrent installation is now complete.

Okay, but I'm getting problems uploading the html folder to the sever. I use FTP and keep getting error and I cant upload it with file manager because the files in the html folder are too many.

joeroberts 28th May 2011 15:54

your server is not allowing the .hittacces files so you well need to do a search and remove them from source folders

So I should remove .htaccess from all folders?

joeroberts 28th May 2011 16:41

Thanks, is it normal if some files failed to upload?

cdx1 28th May 2011 17:14

as you are using free hosting the must not allow users to use .htaccess files mate most free hosts are the same limited good for testing source codes but you cant run a torrent site on free hosting they would shut you down in no time

Ah, I see. I thought i will just use this to start on first, but it seems like its all pointless if they are going to shut it down anyways.

joeroberts 28th May 2011 18:08

On cheap or free hosts? Yes your also going to find the host also well cause problems with Java scripts to

cdx1 28th May 2011 18:13

its ok to use free hosting just to test source codes and find the best one for your needs but at some point you are best getting a vps or dedicated server

OsasNGRT 30th May 2011 17:54

ah, I see. So is there no other way to get a free good server or one for a cheap price or one that I can pay with a Wallie Card, so that non of my information need to be given.
